Nasonex Children's 24HR Allergy + Congestion 30 Sprays is an over-the-counter (OTC)
nasal spray for children ages 2 to 11 that provides 24-hour relief from allergy symptoms.
The active ingredient is mometasone furoate, a glucocorticoid steroid.
Uses
Children's Nasonex is used to relieve nasal symptoms associated with seasonal and year-round allergies, including:
Nasal congestion
Runny nose
Itchy nose
Sneezing
Dosing and administration
Age range: Children ages 2 to 11.
Dose: One spray in each nostril, once daily, while sniffing gently.
Supervision: Use by children should be supervised by an adult.
Duration of use: Children should use the spray for the shortest amount of time needed to relieve symptoms. If your child needs to use it for more than two months a year, consult a doctor.
Full effect: While some relief may be felt within 12 hours, the full effect is achieved after several days of regular, once-daily use.
How to use: Shake the bottle well before each use. A detailed insert is included in the package for instructions on priming the bottle and cleaning the nozzle.
Warnings and side effects
Not for all children: This product should not be used in children under 2 years of age.
Potential for slowed growth: For some children, long-term use of nasal corticosteroids may cause a slower growth rate. Consult a doctor if your child needs to use this product for an extended period.
Common side effects: Possible side effects include headache, nosebleeds, nasal irritation or stinging, or a sore throat.
When to stop use: Stop using the product and see a doctor if your child's symptoms do not improve within 7 days or if new symptoms occur, such as severe facial pain or thick nasal discharge, which could indicate an infection.
Serious side effects: Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences any serious side effects, such as breathing difficulties, vision changes, or signs of an allergic reaction.
